We need VOLUNTEERS for the muscial

Parents/Guardians of students in the musical - We need volunteers to chair and be on some committees for the musical. Please sign up when the paperwork comes home after the Holiday break. We need a chair for Kiss the Cast and the Cast Dinner between shows on Sat. Feb 11th. All the info you need to run these events will be given to you. It is pretty easy to do and will help us out tremendously. We will need people to help at the Concession Stand and Kiss-the-cast table. Ushers are needed for each performance. Please come and be a part of this great experience - your student will appreciate your interest and we appreciate your time. It takes a village to present these productions and it is nice to get to know the kids and other parents. Please, come & join us!

The November Booster Meeting is tomorrow night in the choir room at 7pm. Lots to discuss - fundraisers, the music trip, fundraisers, the concert, fundraisers, the musical, fundraisers, student accounts, and more fundraisers. Bring your ideas, insight, & experience. See you there!

Homecoming & Fundraisers!

Wow! So much is going on. The Gertrude Hawk chocolate bars are so yummy that we sold out of 100 cases in record time. A new shipment has arrived - see Mrs. Nichols. Other fundraisers going on right now are sales of the Entertainment coupon book and patron ads. Fundraisers in November include - Mom's Pizza, Holiday wreaths, Chick-fil-A night (Nov. 2), Pizza Uno night (Nov. 10), Novemberfest band concert, and sponsors for the Dance-A-Thon.

Homecoming was a success! We made more of a profit this year than last year. Thanks to everyone who donated, helped sell, and ate the goodies!

Auditions for the musical are in full swing - very exciting! And the Holiday Concert will be here before you know it. We will be having a 50/50 and selling goodies again.

Commitment fees are due this Friday, October 28th. Your $60 Commitment fee must be paid for you to register for the music trip and/or to attend the Banquet.

Thanks to all who attended the Booster Meeting last night!

We had a great turnout last night - thanks to all who could make it! Our year is starting off on a high note (no pun intended) and with your interest & help we can make this a fantastic year for all our students. It truly is a pleasure to spend time with these kids and to get to know them.

WELCOME BACK!

The first Vocal Music Booster meeting of this school year will be held at 6pm in the choir room, C109, on back-to-school night - Oct. 13, 2011.
This is a big year for Vocal Music with the exciting music trip, fabulous musical, our homecoming booth, and lots of fun events planned.
Your help is needed more than ever this year. If you have a fundraiser idea that you would like to chair to help choir members raise some dough, please let us know so we can get the ball rolling. If you want to help with any of the many behind the scenes activities that we do for the musical, please let us know. If you just want to be involved in some way with a great group of students, please let us know.
The support you give your student is so important and they do appreciate all that you do!

NHSVMB is sponsoring a Flea Market at the High School on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 8am - 1pm.
Spaces are available for $10 for you to sell your possessions. You may pass a treasure onto someone else...

APRIL EVENTS AND FUNDRAISERS

Students can earn $$$$$$ for their accounts by selling cookie dough and ice cream pies. Sales info is available in the choir room, just ask Mrs. Nichols. Cookie dough sale ends April 8th and ice cream pie sale ends May 9th. Pickup for both items will be May 18th at the Spring Concert in the lobby.

Invites will be mailed out soon for the Vocal Music Banquet. The Banquet will be held on Wednesday, May 25th at the Knights of Columbus on Woodbourne Rd from 6pm to 10:30pm. All those students who have met their commitment fee obligation are invited to attend.

The next fun-filled Booster Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 13th! Don't miss the excitement - come on out & join us.

March Booster Meeting - Wed., March 16, 2011 7pm

Please come on out & join us for the March Booster meeting. We have lots going on - several fundraisers are being discussed. Next year your student will have the opportunity to attend a music trip (details TBA) and we are trying to give each student a way to earn money for their trip through fundraisers. If you have an idea for a fundraiser please attend and share your idea. We are presently working on a flea market, cookie dough sale, entertainment book or coupon sale, and ice cream pie sale. Our meetings are low key, fun, and sometimes entertaining. Support your student and all the vocal kids - they are a great group!

The Vocal Music Banquet is being held May 25th. Only those students who have paid there committment fee will be invited to attend. There is still some time to pay your $60 fee. Make checks payable to NHSVMB. Thanks!

Musical Costume Info

Company Costumes for your Off-Night
Costume Parade to check costumes: Friday, January 28th, 2011
Bring your costume with you next Friday.

Ladies Costume:
  • Shirt – poet or peasant style (colors: neutrals, ecru, beige, ivory, etc…)
  • Skirt – Long A-line or peasant style (colors: earth tones, fall colors, or jewel tones)
  • Nude stockings
  • Shoes – dance or character, flats, ballet slippers, or moccasins
  • Optional additions – belt, scarf, or bandana

Gentlemen Costume:
  • Shirt – poet (full) style (colors: neutrals, ecru, gray, muted colors)
  • Pants – dark sweatpants (to be made into knickers)
  • Soccer socks or socks to the knee
  • Shoes – dark shoes (no sneakers)
  • Optional additions – Jeff or newsboy cap, bandana, or ascot

If you have been chosen to be in the final Ballroom scene you will need the following;
Ladies:
  • Ball gown – formal old fashion dress, prom gown, Bridesmaid dress

Gentlemen:
  • Dress clothes – poet shirt or over-sized dress shirt, dress pants, vest and/or suit jacket

Next Booster Meeting - Wed., Jan. 19, 2011
